Welcome to the Shoalhaven King of the Mountain Trail Running event, a classic 25km mountain classic held on mixed terrain starting and finishing at the Kangaroo Valley Country Club. The 25km event will be supported by the Greater Nowra Fun Run with 10km, 5km and  2km distances. There will be an event for everyone at this truly unique festival of running.

 An Idyllic Setting for a Late Winter's Fun Run

2km Fun Run Course 

2 k's of rolling majestic country side. Enjoy a gentle run around a beautiful golf course and take in the wild life in a breathtaking setting. A nice distance for young and old with the added challenge of a hill or two.

5km Fun Run Course 
 The Greater 5km Fun Run  features a majority of sealed road running within the country club along with a grassy loop on the adjoining property. Stunning scenery with wombats, ducks and the odd kangaroo.
10km Fun Run Course 
The 10km loop completes the beginning section of the 5km run with a grassy section that leads onto  a fully sealed road over looking the Country Club and beyond. At the top, runners will do a loop around a network of roads and return. They will be treated to some astonishing views over Kangaroo Valley making the climb worthwhile.
25km King of the Mountain Course 
The 25km run completes the beginning section of the 10km run. Runners then head along a trail Northwest sticking to the contour until meeting up with Mount Scanzie Road. The highest point of the race is Mount Scanzi – approx 360m above sea level. The course takes you down a steep descent, along an unsealed road and returns back up over the Mountain. Ample drink and refreshment stations are provided at convenient intervals.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. All runners will be issued with a timing chip for all events. You will be required to lace this onto your shoe and return the chip after you finish. Runners who do not hand in their chip may be asked to replace it at a cost of $20.

There is an indoor area with fire place available for that cold/frosty wait. An undercover BBQ area is situated near the finish line.

There will be a trained paramedic patrolling each event who will be in constant contact with the Race Marshall. A sweeper vehicle will be available for any competitor not up to the challenge on the long run.

PAIN!.... Only kidding. As the name suggests there is a mountain involved. The challenge is to run it both ways. 

The 2km event is suitable for children young and old. All children six years and under should be accompanied by an adult as there are water hazards within the golf course. All distances incorporate hills, running on sealed roads, dirt tracks and grass.

There are 2 caravan parks, a boutique motel and plenty of "farm stay" type accommodation in the Valley. Berry and Nowra offer a myriad of options from basic to luxury.

HOW TO GET HERE


From Sydney via Hume Highway

To get to Kangaroo Valley, take the Hume Highway out of Sydney. Take the Mittagong turn off and follow the signs through to Bowral and then through to Fitzroy Falls/Nowra and this will bring you into Kangaroo Valley. After crossing the Hampden Bridge take the second street to the right (this is Mount Scanzi Road). Large panel sign on this corner for Kangaroo Valley Golf and Country resort. Follow this road for 3-4 kilometres and you will see a large Play and Stay sign and you have found us.

From Sydney via Princes Highway

Follow Princes Highway through Sutherland on to Wollongong then continue along Princes Highway to Berry. At the end of the Berry residential area sign board on the right "Kangaroo Valley 19 kilometres" Follow into Kangaroo Valley turning right towards Moss Vale. Continue through Kangaroo Valley village and then first left is Mount Scanzi Road. Large panel sign on this corner for Kangaroo Valley Golf and Country Resort. From Canberra

Head toward Sydney, continue to Hume Highway, pass Goulburn. Then turn right at the Illawarra Highway (Approx 40 mins after Goulburn) and continue approx. 18 minutes to Nowra Road. Turn right into Nowra Road and follow signs to Fitzroy Falls/Nowra and this will bring you into Kangaroo Valley.
